- improving access through consultation

Home Page

Welcome to the new-look web site

We are currently upgrading the accessibility and increasing the information and facilities. Please bear with us for a short while if the information you are seeking is not available immediately.

New Facilities

This is where to come for the latest news and events. It will be regularly updated with the latest goings-on at Gateshead Access Panel and beyond and we have also introduced a 'Community Page' where you can post information from your own organisation. We always welcome suggestions from visitors on how to improve the site, especially if they are to do with usability or accessibility. So if you have any ideas or problems just e-mail steve@access-gateshead.org.uk

Accessible Web and Media Design

Gateshead Access Panel now provide accessible web site design services. Despite the introduction of the DDA, the majority of web sites are inaccessible to many disabled people. Don't be caught out. Your organisation or company could be the next one in court!

'Designing to Enable'

Picture of Book and CD We are still struggling to get the updated version finished and out there. If you are one of the inquirers who want a copy of the new book please be patient a little while longer. We have your details and hopefully it won't be too long. There are still CD versions of the original book available but no hard copies.

Fond Farewell

GAP's recent AGM saw a number of changes to our Trustee Committee. In stepping down as Chair we would like to thank Frank Lewis for his many years of service in this role. Although Frank is to remain involved as a trustee and in the role of secretary, Barry Coombs and Dawn Ord have now left the organisation and we would like to thank them for their valued contributions to GAP over the years.

In addition we were sad to hear of the death of a former Trustee in January of this year. Our condolences go to Brian Tear's friends and family.
