Volunteering
At Gateshead Access Panel we provide volunteering opportunities for disabled people in the Borough of Gateshead.
Volunteers can become involved in all aspects of our work including activities such as -
- Testing of facilities and services
- Research into disability issues
- Attending our regular panel meetings
- Working in the office
- Learning about and taking part in access auditing
- Learning about and presenting disability awareness and equality training
- Representing us on various committees
- Becoming a management committee member
- Providing information and or peer support to other disabled people

Training -
is always available where needed and support is always present from other volunteers and workers.
Non-disabled volunteers -
where their experience can help to benefit disabled people in our organisation or the wider community, are always considered.
Past volunteers have found the experience very useful in building confidence and experience and have gone on to paid employment or taken university or college courses.
